Ironically, I actually find travelling with my kids easier than parenting at home. We love to get out of the house to explore and focus on spending quality time together 🫶🏼
While you can totally do this at home too, we just find it is easier when we travel!

Fun fact: we actually had planned to travel to Portugal rather than Vietnam earlier this year. But the flight prices stopped us 🤪

Overall I think we made good choices with how long to spend in each location. Here’s our 3 week itinerary for Northern Vietnam:
⭐️ Hanoi - 5 days
In all honesty, we could have done with 3 days in Hanoi but being our first stop we wanted some extra time to adjust and get to know Vietnam.
⭐️ Halong Bay - 1 day
A 1 night cruise on Halong Bay is plenty long enough to experience this beautiful destination. If our budget had allowed for it, we would have loved a second day though!
⭐️ Ninh Binh - 4 days
A highlight of our time in Vietnam! Totally recommend visiting here and 4 days was perfect! It allows enough time to hit all the highlights as well as cycle around and enjoy the area.
⭐️ Hue - 3 days
If you’re travelling Northern Vietnam, you’ve gotta stop in Hue to see the countries last ancient citadel.
⭐️ Hoi An - 5 days
We LOVED our time in Hoi An and 5 days was perfect! Lots of time to wander & explore the Ancient Town, as well as enjoy fun activities like the basket boats.
⭐️ Da Nang - 3 days
We didn’t expect much from Da Nang, but were pleasantly surprised! Being a coastal city, we loved heading down to the beach for sunset drinks and relaxing!
Of course you can do this trip in less time, but we chose to do it slower since we were travelling with two kids and wanted time to relax in between our destinations.

Hue was one of the spots in Vietnam where we were

Hue was one of the spots in Vietnam where we were tired 😴 we arrived via the night train and it took us a few days to recover from the lack of sleep 😅 it was VERY hot, making exploring not very enjoyable, especially with the kids 🤪
BUT… if there’s one thing I’d recommend doing, it’d be taking a cruise down the Perfume River to see this Pagoda 🙌🏼 it’s pretty incredible and the breeze on the boat ride was worth every penny 😂🫠
